Alyth is surrounded by countless historic sites including the Alyth Arches and Glamis Castle, the childhood home of the Queen Mother. Alyth even has links with the legendary King Arthur and Queen Guinevere, which are illustrated by the local history museum.

A 20-minute drive will also see you shopping and sightseeing in Dundee or Perth, or splashing about in one of their superb leisure pools.

Needless to say, the glens and lochs surrounding Alyth offer an endless list of activities including hillwalking, mountain-biking, fishing, sailing and horse-riding, to the more extreme pursuits of skiing and snowboarding at Glenshee, river-rafting, water- skiing, canyoning and hang-gliding. The list goes on and on. If none of the above are for you, why not discover some of the craft industries, distilleries, parks, gardens and factory museums in the area?

Described by Sir Walter Scott as "The most varied and most beautiful province in Scotland ", Perthshire has changed little to this day, boasting all the features for which Scotland is most famous - mountains, glens, lochs, rivers and coastlines.
